In early August, 30 students from all HSE University campuses set off on a journey as part of the Student Project Contest. Their project was called ‘T-T-T: A TikTok Tour of the Finno-Ugric Republics by Bus’. On their travels, the students learned about the local culture and made short educational and entertaining videos.

On September 20-22, an inter-committee session of the Student Council took place at Voronovo. Representatives of student self-governance and the university administration discussed projects that will improve the students’ lives, as well the future of the Student Council itself.
The Council of the HSE Student Initiative Support Fund has announced the student organizations that will receive up to 300 thousand rubles to turn their projects into realities.
In early April the spring Student Project Contest conducted its final phase—the public defense. HSE News Service spoke with the winners about how their projects can be useful for every HSE student.
At the beginning of the new academic year, HSE launched a new mechanism to support student projects called HSEcoin. The first phase of fundraising through this platform took place from September 13 to November 20. During this time, student projects managed to collect 5,069.14 HSEcoins, which equals more than one million roubles based on 2018 exchange rates. Below is a summary of the first phase of the HSEcoin campaign.
The Iron Egg is awarded annually to the winners of a student vote for their contribution towards extracurricular life at the university. For the first time ever, this year’s awards ceremony took place in a new interactive format with students selecting not only the best student organisations, but also the best journalistic work by a university media source, as well as most active student.
Each quarter, HSE holds the Student Project Contest, which allows projects deemed important for university or social development to receive financial, organizational, or any other type of support to help them succeed.
Applications for the Increased State Academic Scholarship open in May. The main changes to the scholarships to be awarded this summer concern those for social achievements. Students receiving Russian government scholarships (quotas) are eligible to apply. Increased State Academic Scholarship is not applicable for students who pay for their tution.
